Old-Fashioned Christianity

It’s old-fashioned.  Most people wouldn’t consider it exciting.  We don’t serve food.  The chairs aren’t the softest.  The music is old-style, right out of the hymnal, with only piano accompaniment.

Interested in attending?

I’m talking about our Wednesday evening prayer meeting.  We don’t put a lot of advance effort into making it special or highly attractive to guests.  It’s decidedly low-tech.  We have a black and white handout with prayer requests on it and we use (occasionally) a white board.  We don’t have any special music, except the few times a year when the Preschool Choir comes over to practice a song on us.  (And when they do, we don’t use an expensive sound system.  Usually, it’s just an old boombox.)  The average age of those who currently attend is . . . will let’s just say that at age 55, I’m still in the younger half of the congregation on Wednesday nights.

I’m not trying to discourage you from coming.  I’m just telling the truth.  Prayer meeting isn’t a high-tech-impress-the-guests-kind-of-meeting, but it is where much of the real work of the church is done.  It’s people who love God praying for their church, their pastor, their teachers, their nation, their community, their friends, and their needs.  It’s what God taught us to do.  And we are absolutely convinced that it makes a difference.

It’s probably closer to primitive Christianity than anything we do.

So I invite you to join our prayer meeting on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm.  It probably won’t impress you, but you will be contributing greatly to the strength of our church and ministry.

Praising God that we can go unto the House of God and worship Him freely! My earthly father Bro. Bob Fulcher that was a baptist minister for over 65 yrs. of His life never missed a wed night service! Wed was designated Prayer meeting. And being the pk I did not want to go, he drug me many times to church. When I left his home and started doing what I wanted do, everything starting going wrong in life. If had only been obedient to my Heavenly Father and to my earthly father. my life would have not had so many problems and the enemy would not have touched me. Because prayer does change things, I am living proof because of my daddy’s prayers! thank you Pastor Jack, Praying for All!
