WEEKLY NEWS

You need to Read This!
I have many favorite passages: The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew, the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, the Resurrection Accounts in all four gospels, the book of Habakkuk in the Old Testament and the books of Timothy and 1 John. But at–or at least near–the top of the list, is the teaching and prayer of Jesus in John 14-17.
I’ll tell you why it’s my favorite in my devotional, and summarize some of the major teachings in this important passage!

Church Picnic Is This Sunday!
April 13 - Dinner at 5:00 pm!
Our Church Picnic is this Sunday, April 13. The picnic opens at 4:00, with dinner served at 5:00 pm. The church will provide hamburgers and hot dogs. Bring a side dish to share!
The picnic is at Festival Fields Park, 101 E. Lower Buckeye Road, in Avondale. (From the church, go south on Central Avenue and you will run directly into the park!) There are fields to play in, plenty of playground equipment for children (and adults!) and a pond for fishing.
After the meal, we will have a brief time of praise . . . and possibly some baptisms. Let us know if you are ready to be baptized!
"I'm Peter . . . ."
Our current worship series, “On The Way to the Cross” features Bible characters telling their story. These are all done by ABC members who will tell the story of people Jesus encountered on the way to the Cross. The entire series is based on John 11-21.
Here’s a video from Sunday, April 6, of ABC member Jeremy Wiles portraying Peter.
This coming Sunday, we will meet the servant girl who questioned Peter after the arrest of Jesus.
I Hope This Blog Leads You To Think Deeply
We have never fully understood human rights in our country. Or, if we did, we have failed to fully implement our beliefs.
Where do human rights come from? Who grants them? Who do we extend them to? I am convinced that human rights are more than a Constitutional issue; they are a Biblical issue. Current events are forcing us to think through this issue. Let’s make sure we do it Biblically! Read my blog at abcaz.net/blog for my thoughts.
