How Does Jesus Want Us To Live?

We have spent this year in the Gospel  of John, studying who Jesus is.  We’ve looked at His “I Am” statements, and we’ve focused on His Crucifixion and Resurrection.

Once we believe in Him, how does He want us to live?  What does a Jesus life look like?  What commands did He teach us?  What principles are we to focus on?  Are there certain “rules” we are to follow?

Our next Sunday series, “The Jesus Way” will focus on the red-letter words of Jesus.  We know who He is.  How does He want us to live?

This series begins on Sunday morning, May 17, at 8:30 or 11:00 am

Letter From Jackie Faulkner's Sister, Jill Wales

I pray for the right words to express how I feel about all of you who were there for Jackie and I. He loved all of you so much, and I’m so grateful we found the right church for him. You all accepted him with open arms and made him feel loved! Thank you! And thank you for the visits to the hospital; he looked forward to all of them. It truly helped him feel better.

Rachel, I can’t find the words to tell you how much it meant to me that you cared and helped me through all of this! I honestly don’t know what I would have done. Thank you to everyone who put on the memorial service. It was wonderful! Thank you, Pastor Jack, for the beautiful service and reading of my eulogy. Other than this letter, it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. I don’t think I could have read it myself. I just miss him so much! I’m terrible with names, but I want to say thank you to everyone for everything you did to help Jackie and me through this difficult time. Bless you all!

April - May Meals, Wednesday at 5:30 pm. ($7 per meal, $25 family maximum)

Upgrading and Improving our Spanish Speaking Worship!

Did you know that over 30% of the homes within a three mile radius of the church speak Spanish in their homes?  In our attempt to reach our community, we want to do a better job of reaching spanish speakers with the gospel and making them feel welcome at ABC!

Last year, we remodeled main Worship Center.  We are now in the process of upgrading our Spanish Worship Center  At our next business meeting (on Wednesday night, April 29, at 6:30 pm), we will vote to purchase chairs like those in the English Worship Center.  (See the picture from their pulpit.  They are currently using old Sunday School chairs.)

We wil purchase 100 chairs at a cost of $13,876 from our existing building fund.  72 will be assigned to the Spanish Congregation, and the other 28 will add to our English Worship Center.  At the business meeting, we will also give a financial update and more information on a new church start.

Does Our Homeless Ministry Change Lives?

In the first two months since we reopened IHELP (Interfaith Homeless Emergency Program) the ministry has experienced great success–and some challenges.  As of March 31, 18 different individuals were housed. 6 of them have been able to secure permanent housing, and 2 more were able to re-unite with family.

Of those 18, four have some form of mental illness, four have physical disabilities, 2 are survivors of domestic violence, and one is a veteran.  7 of them have some earned income, 2 get Social Security benefits, and 9 had no employment at the time they entered the program–several of those are now working!

If you’re into statistics, that’s a 44% success rate in getting people off of the streets in less than 60 days!

We currently house on Tuesdays and Wednesday nights, and we have 12 individuals (our limit) in the program.  To the members of ABC, your willingness to participate in this ministry is definitely helping people in the name of Jesus.  To those servants who work in the ministry, THANKS!  You are making a real difference!

Our VBS theme is "Illumination Station" and it's scheduled for June 7-11!
