An Update On A Few of our Many "Love Ministries"

We show God's love in ways that help people and open the door for the gospel.

In 2025, 112 Arizona Disaster Relief volunteers responded to 17 call-outs. Our teams served both in Arizona and beyond. We assisted in California following wildfires, and in Texas and New Mexico after flooding. Here in Arizona, volunteers served in Miami and Globe following flooding, and supported the City of Tempe and Church on Mill after storm damage.

We were also honored to support disaster partners and our Convention throughout the year, including the Annual Meeting, the Palo Verde Exercise, and MIRT. Altogether, our volunteers served an incredible 12,105 hours, provided 9,399 meals, 1,165 showers, and had 1,239 ministry contacts. These numbers represent real people, real conversations, and real opportunities to share the love of Christ.

Specifically, Avondale Baptist church has 5 trained participants.  Four of these participated in one or more of the call outs above.

Let us know if you want more information!  Training is available to support this ministry!

When we say we “Love God, Love People, and Follow Jesus,” we aren’t just talking!

NOTE:  We had our Angel Tree Christmas Party on December 21.  This is one letter we received from a mom in Perryville Prison.

Hello.

I want to thank you at the bottom of my heart for having my children at Christmas spend time with you and your church. I really appreciate the letters and last year I received a picture.

I have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I do want to come to your church as well when I get released. I will be released on March 11, 2029. If you have any materials, studies, or things to strengthen my faith. I would really appreciate it.

It does get very lonely in here. I plan to start college with Ashland University. I plan to take communications with a minor in religion. So as I can expand my horizons. Please keep me and my kids in prayer. Thank you for everything. May God bless you and the church as well.

We have redacted the name–but God knows.  Pray for her!

Brown bag lunch started many years ago when an ABC  member believed we could do more to help the homeless and the hungry.

The lunch consist of can of Vienna sausage, peanut butter crackers, Rice Krispie Bar and a bottle of water. Sometimes we add extra goodies that are donated to the church. They are given out Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  We give away about 600 bags per month!

Once a year we do a yard sale to raise money to help pay for this ministry, and we accept donations from our members as well.  It takes about $12,000 a year to pay for the brown bags.

The brown bags do more than feed people, it brings them into our church to where they can learn about Jesus and have people pray with them. This ministry inspired a young girl to raise money of her own and come in and make lunches with the items that she bought.

This is one more way we put “Love God, Love People, and Follow Jesus'” into practice!
